Mike Lenett

Mike Lenett is Of Counsel at Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca, bringing decades of experience in law, government, and public service to the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. His legal and legislative background spans senior roles in federal agencies, private practice, and elected office, with a particular focus on contracts, regulatory compliance, antitrust, and environmental law.

Before rejoining CGL, Mike served as a Maryland State Senator representing District 19 in Montgomery County from 2007 to 2011. In the Senate, he chaired the Special Committee on Renewables & Clean Energy and held positions on key committees focused on education, health, ethics, election law, and environmental affairs. His legislative portfolio emphasized sustainability, social justice, and access to care. He was honored with several awards including Environmental Champion by Environment Maryland and Legislative Champion by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Earlier in his career, Mike served as Special Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and as Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, where he worked on antitrust and business regulation. He also practiced privately and held teaching roles at George Washington University’s National Law Center.

Mike earned his B.A. magna cum laude from Brandeis University and holds an M.A. in American Government, a J.D., and an LL.M. in Securities Regulation—with distinction—all from Georgetown University. A committed public servant, he has served on numerous state task forces and nonprofit boards related to healthcare, education, the environment, and disability services.
