About

Evelyn Yifei Riley (李一飞), is an internationally trained attorney specializing in complex litigation, antitrust law, tort, intellectual property, and Chinese law. After law school, Ms. Riley received an L.L.M. in Intellectual Property from The George Washington University Law School. Ms. Riley joined CGL in 2013. Working alongside the firm’s late founding partner, Johnathan Cuneo, Ms. Riley vigorously litigated claims on behalf of indirect purchaser plaintiffs who suffered antitrust injuries as a result of anticompetitive conduct. Her work at CGL has contributed to settlements of over $1.6 billion for indirect purchasers in antitrust litigation, including approximately $400 million in settlements for automobile dealership plaintiffs. In re Auto Parts Antitrust Litigation (E.D. Mich. MDL 2311)

Served as one of the principal attorneys in the litigation, prosecuted forty cases representing automobile dealerships across the country against upstream OEM part-suppliers who fixed prices and rigged bids; briefed scores of motions and successfully argued a number of them before the federal court; led the dealership discovery effort against over fifty different defendants; contributed significantly to over $300 million in settlements for the indirect purchaser automobile dealership plaintiffs.

In Re: National Prescription Opiate Litigation (N.D. Ohio MDL 2804)

Representing hospitals in cases against companies that fraudulently marketed and distributed opioids in the United States; prepares and drafts complaints and briefs for the hospitals; successfully defended multiple motions to dismiss in federal and state courts throughout the litigation; briefed and argued motions to dismiss before state courts in Florida, Mississippi, and Arkansas for hospitals; successfully moved multiple federal courts to remand hospitals’ cases back to state courts where the hospitals chose to litigate their cases; conducted in-depth legal research for the hospitals.

Between 2022 and 2024, Ms. Riley worked at a national law firm’s D.C. office. She represented clients in both state and federal courts throughout the U.S. in a broad range of matters, including commercial contracts, consumer protection, employment, privacy, product liability, trade secrets, and premises liability in high exposure matters. Ms. Riley was the Co-Chair of the firm’s Asian Americans Resource Group and a Steering Committee Member in the firm’s Women’s Initiative.

Prior to joining Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca, LLP, Ms. Riley was selected as a judicial intern among a competitive group of law students and lawyers to work for Chief Judge Randall R. Rader at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit while she was earning her L.L.M. degree at The George Washington University Law School. At the Chief Judge’s Chamber, Ms. Riley worked on cases involving complex patent litigation and international trade disputes.

Prior to coming to the U.S., Ms. Riley. took courses of American law during law school, and worked for judges at a district court in Wuhan, China. She also interned with a large domestic firm specializing in capital markets, Jingtian & Gongcheng, in Beijing.

Ms. Riley currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington, D.C. Area (APABA-DC).

Ms. Riley enjoys playing the Guzheng, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, in her free time. She has participated in numerous musical competitions and her skill has been recognized at provincial and national levels.

Ms. Riley is fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin).
