2007

Firm expands with addition of Sandra Cuneo (as counsel), former Federal Trade Commission attorney and Washington counsel to the Governor of New York; Robert Cynkar, former U.S. Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Special Assistant to the Attorney General, U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Counsel, and private practitioner at several firms; Charles Tiefer (as counsel), formerly Solicitor of the House of Representatives and currently a Professor of Law at the University of Baltimore School; and Matthew Wiener, formerly a partner with Dechert LLP and now an adjunct professor at Rutgers University School of Law.

2006

Lawyers Jonathan W. Cuneo, David Stanley, and R. Brent Walton recognized as Trial Lawyer of the Year Finalists by Trial Lawyer for Public Justice Foundation for their work on Hungarian Gold Train Case. R. Brent Walton, formerly affiliated with Hagens Berman Sobol & Shapiro, who worked closely with CGL on Hungarian Gold Train case, joins firm.

2005

Firm negotiates $25.5 million settlement on behalf of Hungarian Holocaust survivors and their heirs in suit charging U.S. government with mishandling their property in aftermath of World War II. Charles J. LaDuca becomes named partner of firm. Firm member Michael Waldman accepts position as Executive Director of The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law. Jonathan W. Cuneo testifies before Congressionally established Antitrust Modernization Commission on possible reforms to the federal antitrust laws.

2004

Firm named sole lead counsel in $322 million bi-national settlement on behalf of thousands of homeowners who had installed allegedly defective Entran II heating hoses manufactured by Goodyear Tire & Rubber.

2003

Cuneo Law Group, P.C. becomes Cuneo Waldman & Gilbert, P.C., with addition of named partners Michael Waldman, formerly chief speechwriter to President Bill Clinton, and Pamela Gilbert, formerly Executive Director of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Firms serves as co-counsel with Blecher & Collins to represent Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties and private clients in major antitrust case that results in recovery of $39 million from El Paso Natural Gas Co. and Sempra Natural Gas. Firm represents 26 members of Congress of both parties in U.S. Supreme Court case involving McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Law.

2002

Firm leads successful coalition that convinces Congress (in connection with enactment of Sarbanes Oxley Act) to extend statute of limitations in federal securities fraud cases. Law firms prosecuting Enron, WorldCom, and Qwest securities fraud cases retains firm to monitor Congressional and administrative proceedings pertaining to cases. The New Yorker publishes article highlighting Jonathan W. Cuneo's role in making public "spinning" practice of Jack Grubman and other Wall Street insiders.

2001

Firm recovers millions for consumers of disposable contact lenses in antitrust case. Firm achieves trial judgment in nation's first private suit challenging company's improper use of "Made in the USA" logo.

2000

Firm achieves landmark privacy settlement in Dennis v. Metromail Corp., resulting in injunctive relief for, and $15 million recovery by, Americans whose personal information was disclosed to maximum security prisoners. House Democratic Leadership retains firm to represent it in U.S. Supreme Court case (Dickerson v. United States) involving Miranda rights.

1999

Firm appointed as legal representative (with one other firm) to represent tens of thousands of individual policyholders of Prudential Insurance Company in arbitration-like remediation proceedings. Policy holders recovered hundreds of millions of dollars. Firm files brief in U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of the Project on Government Oversight, defending whistle blower rights under Capitol False Claims Act

1998

Firm settles MTel Securities litigation, recovering millions for investors.

1997

Firm achieves settlement of "Joe Camel" case after securing the public release of documents showing that R.J. Reynolds directed ads to children. Congressman Henry Waxman calls legal team "real American heroes."

1996

Firm achieves ERISA settlement under which McDonnell Douglas Corporation agrees to provide retirement health benefits to over 20,000 nonunion retirees.

1995

Firm directs large public interest coalition that successfully protects investor rights. Cheated investors in WorldCom and Enron achieve unprecedented recoveries of over $6 billion and $7 billion, respectively.
