PREETPAL GREWAL is based in our New York office. She has over fourteen years of experience successfully representing clients in complex civil, criminal, labor and employment, corporate governance and bankruptcy matters. She received her undergraduate degree from St. Bede’s College, her LLB from Himachal Pradesh University and her LLM from New York University. Preet is admitted to practice law in India and New York.
Before coming to the United States, Preet practiced law before the High Court of Himachal Pradesh at Shimla where she established a very successful private practice. She was the sole counsel for the entire judiciary of the State of Himachal Pradesh. In that capacity, Preet was the only lawyer responsible for defending all the actions taken by the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the Chief Justice, the subordinate courts, all judicial officers and ministerial staff. She was also the primary counsel for the Oriental Insurance Company, one of the largest insurance companies in India.
In addition, she headed two High Court Committees – the Himachal Pradesh High Court Committee for Ex-Servicemen and the Himachal Pradesh High Court Committee for Women and Children – formed and chaired by the then Chief Justice M.N. Rao. She was the Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Bar Association in 1997-1998.
In the United States, Preet’s practice has mainly focused on litigating cases involving labor and employment, commercial, bankruptcy, constitutional and anti-trust issues. She has also been involved in the investigation of one of the largest sub-prime mortgage companies. Preet is currently working on various class action suits filed against government agencies and companies.
