Attorney: This suit, brought in California, alleges deceptive practices by the manufacturer of “Leatherman” tools. The tools were advertised as “Made in the U.S.A.,” but in fact the complaint alleges substantial components were manufactured abroad. The court has granted the plaintiffs’ motion for summary adjudication on liability (i.e., ruling as a matter of law that “Leathermen’s representations that tools containing such part were ‘Made in the U.S.A.’ violated [California Business and Professional Code] 17533”). |
